Your Opportunity
As a director-level leader, the BCPL functions as a people leader and technical leader in our Business Center (BC), bridging our business operations and technical execution. E&R is organized into a WIN-DO-MANAGE structure. The BCPL will sit in the MANAGE pillar (the BC) but hold primary responsibility for leading collaboration with the DO pillar (technical execution). The BCPL inspires teams, drives technical practice excellence with support from our Technical Practice Leaders (TPLs), Project Managers (PMs), and Project Technical Leads (PTLs) and holds teams accountable in support of exceptional project delivery. The BCPL reports to the Regional Business Leader (RBL) and is a partner to the BC Operations Leader (BCOL) to reinforce the brand of Stantec while helping our clients, colleagues, and communities thrive. As the prime leader within the Business Center (BC) for engineering and technical services, this position acts as the main point of contact for engineering execution and technical issues. You will lead a multi-discipline team consisting of engineers, technologists, and technical support personnel.
The primary focus for the BCPL will be leading the development and deployment of our technical delivery teams that deliver engineering, design, and project delivery excellence, with high levels of collaboration and coordination with our Canada/US based Delivery Center and our Global Delivery Center. You will manage and steward continuous improvements in quality, optimizing work processes as well as ensuring the financial viability of the business center through stewarding the blend of technical resources to execute projects efficiently. This includes responsibility for the development of engineering work practices while providing direction and leadership to the engineering disciplines to ensure successful integration with the entire business center and business line leadership team.
This position will be responsible for our Mining technical teams in Eastern Canada and will work closely with peers from across E&R to lead technical delivery for our BC. As this position will work closely with the Business Center Operations Leader, it will ideally be located in Eastern Canada.

- Proactively identify opportunities to reinforce and develop Stantec's high-performance culture focused on talent, innovation, productivity, excellence, and business performance.
- Build and develop technical delivery teams across the BC, Delivery Center (DC), Global Delivery Center (GDC), and across E&R to ensure we have the right people involved to make projects successful.
- Lead or assign responsibility for technical project delivery, QAQC, discipline excellence, subject matter expertise, standardization, and best practices.
- Inspire, motivate, and hold the team accountable for the delivery of innovative design solutions.
- Promote strong interaction with TPLs for resource mentorship, development and project delivery.
- Represent the BC at industry and community events, meetings, and conferences.
- Build strong partnerships with business leaders in other BCs and Sectors to foster collaboration, grow new expertise, increase work share opportunities, and drive growth.
- Work with client technical representatives and quality control teams to ensure that engineering and design services meet expectations.
- Monitor client satisfaction and implement improvements as needed.
- Ensure compliance with professional engineering regulatory bodies in the jurisdictions where the Business Center practices.
- Support projects in meeting budget, schedule, and technical quality with appropriate resources.
- Establish annual goals and objectives for direct reports and monitor progress.
- Provide guidance to BC Leadership on training requirements for technical groups.
- Oversee hiring, performance reviews, and administrative functions and influence compensation decisions of your team.
- Advise BC Leadership and other teams on engineering standards and work practices.
- Participate in BC leadership team planning and goal setting.
- Lead and/or support the development of engineering work processes, standards, and quality procedures.
- Develop and ensure consistency in inter-discipline workflows, coordination, and quality procedures.
- Assist in the coordination of technical audits and monitor, verify, and report on team performance.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts through lessons learned and best practices.
Win:
- Collaborate with the WIN team to drive growth of E&R and the BC by supporting business development activities, key pursuits, and Marketing and Business Development (M&BD) strategy.
- Increase Stantec's visibility to enhance our reputation and drive revenue by sharing knowledge and our innovation story at key client engagements.
- Participate in the Go/No Go review process, contribute to win strategies and successful project execution through hands-on involvement in key pursuits, client management and project management.
- Support business development activities and client engagement.
Manage:
- Collaborate with the BCOL to attract, engage and retain top talent, support career development succession planning, coaching, diversity and leadership development.
- Foster employee engagement through regular communication and BC-wide meetings.
- Support the BCOL in meeting established targets such as net revenue, gross margin, overhead, and operating income.
Key Performance Indicators (by primary focus area):

- Quality and Rework metrics
- Gross Margin variance from budget
- Utilization
- Global Delivery Center and Delivery Center engagement
- Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) goals and targets for practice leaders
Reporting and Utilization:
This role reports to the Regional Business Leader. Utilization target ranges from 20% to 30%.
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
