Job Summary:
The Kindergarten Camp Director will support our Junior and Senior Kindergarten campers and the Kindergarten Camp leaders, both paid staff and volunteers, ensuring they have an excellent camp experience.
They are part of a Camp Forward team who will build and implement a plan for the Camp Forward ministry for summer of 2026.
This individual must be able to maintain strict confidentiality and privacy in their work.
Job Requirements:
- Must agree in belief and practice with the Articles of Faith, Covenant of Membership, and Lifestyle Statement of Forward Church (Section II of Church Bylaws).
- Must be able to sign and abide by the Engagement Agreement & Conduct (Section IV 18.01 of Church Bylaws).
- Must be able to teach and/or identify teaching materials consistent with the Articles of Faith and Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Strategic plan of the church.
Accountability:
- The Kindergarten Camp Director is accountable to the Associate Director of Children's Ministry.
Direct Reports:
- Kindergarten Camp Program Coordinators
- Kindergarten Camp Special Needs Coordinators
- Kindergarten Camp Counsellors
Responsibilities:
- taking the leadership responsibilities for Kindergarten camp
- creating a fun and engaging program for campers in JK & SK
- working with the other Camp Forward Directors to ensure the camps work in tandem and cooperatively
- on-going behaviour management during the summer, including oversight and support of campers and volunteers working with campers with special needs
- working in tandem with other staff to ensure all campers, including those with special needs, are safe and included in programming
- working with Program Coordinators and volunteers to implement their camp program during summer camp
- ensuring that all campers, volunteers and staff reporting to them are physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually cared for
Hours and Days of work:
This is a full time (37.5 hours/week) job for 12 weeks. The job will begin full time at 37.5 hours/week on Monday, June 1 and end on Friday, August 21.
Additionally, the director will be expected to be available online to conduct staff interviews for coordinators and counsellors. Lieu time will be given off for these hours in June.
Work hours from June 1-July 3 will be Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm with an unpaid 30-minute break.
Work hours from July 6-August 21 will be a 8-hour shift with a schedule being sent out closer to. There will be an unpaid break each day of 1 break consisting of 30 minutes.
In addition to the hours and dates above:
-the evening of August 13 and 20 will be work hours for camp debrief and clean up respectively, June 26 will be given as lieu hours
-Wednesday, July 1 and Monday, August 3 are unpaid holidays
With the exception of sickness and family emergencies no additional time will be given off.
