Health and Safety Advisor
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the development, maintenance, and implementation of HPC health and safety programs.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary health and safety degree, diploma and certifications considered an asset
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification is considered an asset

Experience

  • 8+ years oil and gas industry experience, within a Health & Safety role in an operating facility
  • In-depth knowledge of all relevant legislation and standards in the province of Alberta

Skills:

  • Goal-oriented and capable of meeting deadlines
  • Highly organized with excellent analytical, integration and project management abilities
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-focused skills
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

Key Activities And Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day in-field health and safety leadership and support to HPC leaders, employees, and contractors to establish the desired worksite safety culture
  • Complete field visits and observations to monitor company and contractor compliance with applicable occupational health and safety standard including legislative, company, site specific and task specific requirements
  • Support ensuring health and safety training requirements are identified, developed, and met
  • Key contributor to the development and improvement of Health and Safety programs and training
  • Participate in walkdowns to ensure adequate consideration has been given to health and safety in the operation and maintenance of the facilities
  • Provide support and guidance to operations, maintenance, and other teams, to identify and manage health and safety threats through Job Hazard Analysis, Critical Task Analysis, and other applicable work processes
  • Plan and facilitate health and safety site assessments; assist with the development and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Support incident investigations or provide oversight to incident investigations to ensure effective causal identification and assignment of actions; ensure follow up on actions is completed
  • Review and provide feedback on contractor completed incident investigations
  • Provide support for capturing leading and lagging health and safety measures; perform analysis of health and safety trends and measures, prepare, and deliver presentations of health and safety statistics and recommendations to leaders, employees, and contractors
  • Facilitate and participate in daily, weekly, and monthly company and contractor's health and safety meetings.
  • Collaborate and problem-solve with colleagues to proactively implement health and safety programming and the development of action plans.
