Payroll Associate
How does the role impact the organization?
The successful candidate for this position will work in a fast-paced accounting department reporting to the Payroll Team Lead. The Payroll Associate is responsible for the accurate administration and processing of payroll for multiple entities across multiple jurisdictions while ensuring compliance with legislation and corporate payroll policies. The Payroll Team Lead also provides oversight and expertise relating to payroll accounting matters to ensure the integrity of balance sheet accounts, proper cost allocations, and timely and accurate government reporting and remittances. They will work with both internal and external stakeholders on ensuring effective and efficient operation of the entire payroll process.
What will your role be responsible for?
- Prepare and input payroll information for transmission;
- Balance and verify batch totals with grand total in payroll output;
- Reconcile payroll accounts to the General Ledger;
- Ensure timely and accurate remittance of statutory and government filings;
- Prepare Records of Employment;
- File confidential records;
- Administer Group RRSP/DPSP; and
- Complete ad hoc projects and other duties as assigned.

What do we expect from you?
- Work within deadlines in a high-volume and demanding environment while maintaining a high level of service and an imperative attention to detail;
- Demonstrate email, videoconferencing, and telephone etiquette and relationship management skills;
- Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment;
- Demonstrate a professional manner to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization;
- Exercise tact and discretion in the handling of confidential information; and
- Communicate proficiently in French is an asset.
- Minimum of 1 year payroll experience;
- Post-secondary education with knowledge of basic accounting or equivalent experience;
- Experience with Avanti or other payroll software;
- Excellent computer skills in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word);
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; and
- Fluency written and verbal in French (asset optional).
Licenses/Certifications
- Canadian Payroll Association education would be an asset.
Travel Requirements
- Working minimum 3 days in the office
- Ability to travel on an ad-hoc basis, when required.

Salary Range:
$60, ,000 annually, in addition to competitive performance bonuses/incentives.
Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience, internal equity, and other job requirements.
