Project: Implementation of a Backup Attestation Solution

ServiceNow (Dev instance).

Requirements

QA tester in Agile 2.0, responsible for validating user stories against acceptance criteria, executing manual and automated tests, logging and tracking defects, and collaborating closely with developers to ensure timely remediation and retesting.

Core Responsibilities

User Story Validation

  • Review Agile 2.0 stories and ensure acceptance criteria are clear, testable, and complete.
  • Participate in backlog grooming and sprint planning to understand business context and technical scope.

Test Case Design & Execution

  • Create manual and/or automated test cases aligned with each story's acceptance criteria.
  • Use tools like ServiceNow Test Management 2.0 to manage test artifacts.
  • Execute tests during the sprint (shift-left testing) and document results.

User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

  • Simulate real-world user behavior to validate that the story delivers intended business value.
  • Ensure non-functional aspects (e.g., usability, performance, accessibility) are considered where applicable.

Defect Reporting & Remediation

  • Log defects with clear reproduction steps, expected vs. actual results, and severity.
  • Collaborate with developers to:

o Reproduce issues

o Clarify edge cases

o Retest fixes after resolution

  • Track defect lifecycle using Agile boards or defect management tools.

Sprint-Level QA Activities

  • Attend daily standups to report testing progress and blockers.
  • Update story status (e.g., "Ready for Test", "Failed", "Passed") in Agile 2.0 boards.
  • Participate in sprint reviews and retrospectives to improve QA processes. Required Skills & Tools
  • Agile QA Mindset: Embrace iterative testing, continuous feedback, and early involvement.
  • Test Management Tools: Familiarity with ServiceNow Agile 2.0, Test Management 2.0, ATF (Automated Test Framework), or equivalent.
  • Defect Tracking: Experience with Jira, ServiceNow, or Azure DevOps for logging and triaging bugs.
  • Collaboration: Strong communication skills to work cross-functionally with BAs, developers, and product owners.
  • Automation (optional but valuable): Ability to write or execute automated tests using Selenium, ATF, or similar frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of the ITSM and ITAM modules within ServiceNow (particularly the Service Request and CMDB areas of ServiceNow, as based on my understanding the solution proposed would be creating new catalog items and populating CI related values)
  • Strong understanding of integrations to be able to clearly articulate requirements tied to the pulling of data from an external source and using it to populate ServiceNow, along with the supporting knowledge on how to test integrations in pre prod environments
