What You'll Do

This position supports the entire facet of HR, with a particular focus on:

  • Employee & Labour Relations – Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders on complex labour relations matters, ensuring compliance with collective agreements and employment legislation. Provide strategic guidance and coaching to resolve workplace issues proactively, fostering positive employee relations and minimizing risk of grievances or litigation.
  • Investigations & Compliance – Lead thorough and impartial investigations into workplace concerns, including harassment, misconduct, and policy violations, ensuring adherence to legal and contractual obligations. Deliver well-supported recommendations for corrective or disciplinary actions to protect organizational integrity and maintain a fair, compliant work environment.
  • Learning and Development – Design and deliver impactful training programs through diverse formats (including eLearning and in-person sessions) to equip managers and staff with knowledge on critical topics such as brand integrity and proactive customer service.
  • Employee Experience and Culture – Contribute to the design and implementation of organizational culture initiatives, including an employee recognition program and enhanced achievement and milestone celebrations.

Approximately 60% of the job is weighted towards advisory services and labour relations; the remaining 40% is dedicated to other areas of HR including but not limited to learning and development and engagement / culture.

What You Bring

  • Extensive experience in multiple functional areas of HR, especially in labour relations. You have experience handling complex employee issues with skill and tact. You have an extensive history working in unionized environments, managing grievances, supporting collective bargaining, participating in arbitrations, and leading complex investigations into potential breaches of employment policies, human rights legislation, and other serious infractions.
  • Strong written / verbal communication skills and proficiency in MS Office and HRIS platforms.
  • A proactive, relationship-focused approach to human resources.
  • Demonstrated self-reliance and the ability to independently manage tasks, exhibiting resilience and adaptability when faced with ambiguity, with strong problem-solving skills. You thrive in environments where priorities or processes are not fully defined.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong alignment with our employee values of integrity, teamwork, caring, excellence, and accountability in your approach to work.
  • Work history in retail and/or commercial HVAC industries is advantageous.

We will consider a combination of education and work history, but we anticipate the ideal candidate has their CPHR designation, and a minimum of 5 years of work experience managing labour relations in a unionized environment. We're looking for someone who can "hit the ground running."
