ABOUT THE ROLE

Skills Ontario is seeking a Program Facilitator to support the delivery of our full suite of programs, including Presentations, Summer Camps, the Trades & Tech Truck Program, the Skills Ontario Competition, Young Women's Events, and various events.

This is a full-time, permanent position (35 hours per week). While the position is hybrid, candidates must reside in Peterborough or the surrounding area.

Starting Salary: $48,800

The successful candidate will play a key role in informing and inspiring students about the exciting, first-choice career pathways available in the skilled trades and technologies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling and facilitating daily in-person and/or virtual presentations and workshops for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12, promoting awareness of career opportunities in the skilled trades and technologies.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with school boards, community partners, and other stakeholders
  • Scheduling and facilitating presentations to parents/guardians, guidance counsellors, and/or other members of the educational community
  • Assisting with the Trades & Tech Truck as required
  • Delivering up to six weeks of summer camps during July and August, locally and/or provincially
  • Performing other duties as assigned

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering programming to local public and Catholic school boards as well as surrounding communities. Travel across the province may be required to support Skills Ontario programs. When not facilitating, the candidate will work from home to complete administrative tasks.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Secondary school diploma
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • French language skills (oral and written) are an asset but not required
  • Experience delivering workshops, programs, or presentations to youth
  • Knowledge of or experience with skilled trades and technology occupations is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to make outbound calls and community visits
  • Experience coordinating and facilitating events
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Willingness to travel as required (mileage reimbursed by Skills Ontario)
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends
  • Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle
  • Preference will be given to candidates who identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit; self-identification is encouraged
