About the RoleThe Accommodated Exam Service Assistant provides support to students who experience disability related barriers in the post-secondary learning environment. The Accommodated Exam Service Assistant must be familiar with the post-secondary learning context, be comfortable working with a diverse group of students with varying needs, and possess the ability to develop positive working relationships with numerous community members. The Accommodated Exam Service Assistant must possess strong interpersonal, communication, time management, reading, and writing skills and be willing to work on an on-call basis, which may require working a short shift within the day. Students who experience disability related barriers have access to a wide range of assistive technology, so the Accommodated Exam Service Assistant must be familiar with assistive technology.
This position requires availability Monday to Thursday between 4:00 PM and 9:30 PM during the Fall and Winter semesters.
ResponsibilitiesAccommodated Exam Support
Providing support to the Accommodated Exam Team in receiving, seating, and securing exams. This includes communication and direction of students writing in the Exam Centre and supporting other members of the Exam Team in maintaining their workflow.
Responsible for maintaining the processes and procedures of the Accommodated Exam CentreResponsible for greeting and directing students in the Exam CentreEnsuring students have stored their belongings and are entering the exam space with permitted materialsSeating students in accordance with their accommodationsFamiliarity with assistive technology software and devices to be able to assist community members in the Exam Centre or its satellite locationsConfirming accurate information provided on the exam cover page with studentsCollecting, securing, and accurately storing completed exams (including printing materials from student exam stations)Responsible for ongoing invigilation throughout the Exam Centre or its satellite locations (including invigilation via AIS' monitoring software)Reporting and following through with the process for incidents of cheating in the Exam Centre or its satellite locationsCommunicating with instructors when students have questions or concerns about their exam/assessmentMaintaining physical and digital exam/assessment spaces in between seatings (i.e. ensuring clocks are accurate, desk spaces are clean, computers are cleared)Assist in the facilitation of the exam/assessment pick-up processAvailable to work three to four hours; either between 8:00 am to 3:00 pm or 3:00 pm to 9:30 pm (shift days and times will vary)Available for onboarding on August 21st from 8:30 am to 4:30 pmAssisting the facilitation of exams
Packaging of exams/assessmentsHighlighting required information on exam/assessment cover pagesChecking and confirming the accuracy of information listed on the exam/assessment cover pageMaintaining key processes established by the Accommodated Exam FacilitatorAssist in the organization and securing of exams/assessmentsCommunicating any issues or concerns in a timely and efficient manner to the Accommodated Exam FacilitatorAdministrative Support
Maintain the reputation of Access and Inclusion Services as a professional, friendly, and helpful service areaMaintain up-to-date knowledge of Access and Inclusion Services process and proceduresTriage and direct community members appropriately when navigating questions or concerns on the phone or in the Exam CentreKnowledge of accommodations used by students with disabilitiesOther Duties as assigned

Education and Training:
A minimum of a two-year diploma from a University or equivalentExperience working with adult learners is an assetStrong interpersonal, communication, customer service, reading and writing skillsFlexible and willing to work on an on-call basisAbility to work in a team environment as well as independently, and take initiative to respond to new situationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of issues faced by students experiencing disability related barriers;Knowledge of general office proceduresKnowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and databasesKnowledge of how to save and print documentsKnowledge of various assistive technologies, or willingness to learnListening skills - understand the concerns community members may have and develop positive relationshipsMust be willing and able to communicate effectively within a teamDemonstrate empathy, compassion and respect when interacting with community membersUnderstand and comply with confidentiality requirements under FOIP legislationBe willing and able to accept and act on feedback from colleaguesAn ability to take initiativeResolve situations quickly, maintain confidentiality, and seek support when neededExcellent and effective organizational skillsMust be detail-orientedAble to multitask accurately and efficientlyAbility to manage time effectivelyMust be reliable and punctualSalary: $24.81 per hour
