Job Overview

Bark Barn Inc. is a small but growing rural dog boarding and daycare facility located central to Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Stayer and Creemore. We offer structured dog daycare, day boarding and overnight boarding services. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate person to assist in our structured dog daycare program. We are currently looking for help on Wednesdays until the holidays and will need help Monday and Wednesday in the new year. Hours are typically 8 am - 4 pm with a 1 hour lunch break.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the daycare manager in our structured daycare program.
  • Assist in planning and executing enrichment dog daycare activities.
  • Assist in creating and then following activity schedules.
  • Work with dogs during daycare days with or without assistance depending on the group size (typically a 10 dog maximum).
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively and transparently with dog parents about their dog's behavior, needs, and any concerns at drop off and pick up.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the daycare area, including cleaning up after the dogs and sanitizing as needed. This includes poop pick up outside.
  • Monitor the health and behavior of all dogs in your care, reporting any issues.
  • The individual would also be available during occasional busy times to assist with overnight and day boarding dog outs, which are typically one hour stints.
  • Capture images and video where possible for social media content.

Requirements

  • Candidates must have a passion for all dogs.
  • Reliable transportation required (no bus service in our area).
  • Previous experience in a dog daycare/dog boarding facility (kennel) would be preferred or experience in the pet industry (vet clinic, daycare, boarding or training).
  • Courses in pet first aid would be an asset.
  • Qualifications in dog training would be an asset.
  • Must be comfortable with all sizes and dog breeds.
  • Must be physically fit enough to stand and work with dogs for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Must be comfortable working outside in all weather conditions.
  • The candidate must be confident, calm, and assertive as needed.
  • Candidates should have some flexibility to work various days.
  • Social media skills would be an asset.
