What You Will Get To Do

Responsibilities
Reporting to, and under the direction of, the Supervisor of Recreation & Community Programs, the Camp Counsellor will be responsible for:

  • Supervising and working with groups of children, or one-on-one;
  • Leading campers through a number of activities including games, sports and crafts;
  • Promote a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all campers and staff;
  • Ensuring the safety of all campers by providing emergency or first-aid assistance when required;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who You Are
Our team is looking for a self-motivated, solutions-oriented team member. You convey your thoughts clearly and concisely. You listen attentively and ask questions for clarification and understanding. Using sound judgment, you demonstrate solid organizational skills and strong research, reasoning, numerical and analytical skills.

You're always happy to learn new things and to help build a working environment that encourages and cultivates new ideas. You foster a collaborative team environment among co-workers, and work well both independently and as part of a team.

What You Bring To Our Team

  • Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR "C" certifications;
  • A valid Police Criminal Record Check to work with the Vulnerable Sector; and
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (completion of a C.I.T Certificate or L.I.T Certificate will be considered an asset).

Additional Requirements And Responsibilities For Inclusion Services Counsellors

  • Applicants must have past work or volunteer experience assisting children with special needs;
  • Responsibilities include: providing individual support for a child or youth with special needs; developing and implementing a safe, inclusive and adaptive programming for children and youth with special needs and working with Camp Counsellors to implement specific daily program plans that accommodate the special needs of your participant.
  • Additional responsibilities include: assisting children and youth with special needs in areas such as lifts, toileting, feeding and other needs as necessary.

Additional Requirement For Junior Fire Camp Roles

  • Enrollment in a Pre-Service Firefighter Program would considered be an asset;

What We Offer You
$17.20 per hour

Hours Of Work
Flexible hours, Monday to Friday (up to a maximum of 44 hours per week).
