Who will you be working with?
Bach-Simpson is the lead Event Recorder OEM in the North American Transit market. It designs, develops, and maintains various electronic equipment for trains. The monitoring team in this division is responsible for the Bach-Simpson monitoring products and projects.

How will you make a difference?
In this role the team member will have full ownership and responsibility over financial management, accounting processes, and reporting for the Bach Simpson division of Wabtec.

Responsibilities include managing the monthly financial close process, managing financial and accounting procedures and controls, as well as providing strategic support to the leaders of the organization.

The role will also support setting and executing the regional strategy for tax and treasury management in Canada, liaising with both Corporate and the Canadian Revenue Agency to ensure compliance.

What do we want to know about you?
The following are the required qualifications for this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office suite of software.
  • Experience working with ERPs such as Oracle, and Visual.
  • Expertise with Canadian tax policy preferred.
  • Strong technical accounting experience and a wide range of business knowledge.
  • Demonstrates leadership and accepts accountability in the workplace
  • Commitment to teamwork.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Organizational and analytical skills.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Legal authorization to work in Canada is required
  • Able to travel to the US for business trips

What will your typical day look like?
The following are essential responsibilities for this role:

  • Responsible for daily operations of accounts payable and accounts receivable – work directly with Treasury & Tax to ensure timely payments
  • Monthly account reconciliations to ensure consistency and accuracy in the business across the income statement and balance sheet
  • Month and quarter end closing responsibilities such as trial balance uploads, contract asset/liability rollforwards, and warranty rollforwards.
  • Ensure consistent compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
  • Coordination of different systems to ensure consistency and compliance between them.
  • Own resolution of any accounting issues as they arise.
  • Work on special projects as needed.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
