Position Summary
The CCP unit is currently seeking a Permanent Part-Time Recreation Therapist to join their team.

Department/Unit/Program Description
The Complex Continuing Care unit is a specialized patient care area within Ross Memorial Hospital. A patient will be admitted to this unit if their condition is not medically stable and/or requires ongoing skilled, technology-based care; for example, stage four ulcers, transfusions, lung aspirations etc. The Complex Continuing Care Unit is on the forefront of a developing trend in health care. Recognizing the impact of the aging population, we have developed a specialization in Complex Care, maximizing health and physical ability in patients with complex chronic conditions.
Essential Qualifications
- Graduate of Recreation and Leisure Services Diploma/Post Secondary Degree in Recreation and/or Leisure Services essential with TR course content
- Eligibility for registration with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario
- Current BCLS, on hire
- Demonstrated organizational, communication and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and co-operatively with all levels of staff, patients, family and the public
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in computer applications including Microsoft Word, E-mail, Publisher, PowerPoint and Excel
- Must be able to fulfill physical requirement of the job, as per current Physical Demands Analysis
Preferred Qualifications
- Post Secondary studies in gerontology and/or dementia studies
- Minimum 2 years recent Recreation Therapy experience essential, preferably in a hospital setting
- Minimum 2 years experience in specialized areas an asset (Palliative, Rehab, Complex Care)
- Aptitude for creative use of music including ability in performing arts
Hours of Work
Currently must be available day shift Monday to Friday. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the OPSEU Collective Agreement.
