SMP sells its products primarily to automotive aftermarket retailers, program distribution groups, warehouse distributors, original equipment manufacturers, and original equipment service part operations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Mexico, and other Latin American countries.Product Engineering DepartmentJob Descriptions/ClassificationsSummary:Job Description:The employee reports directly to the Engineering Supervisor.The following activities are to be performed in this Job Description/Classification:Produce drawings on Solidworks 2021 or newerResponsible for deviations and engineering change requestsDesign, draft and dimension Unimotor replacement motorsDesign, draft and dimension motor componentsReview drawings of peers as requiredCreate bill of materials for costing and production in JDECreate routings for new products in JDEResponsible for build and coordination of customer sample requestsInteract with other departments within Unimotor and outside vendorsApplication engineering for new products in existing product familiesPerform tear down analysis on returns and test samplesCreation of test reports for new developmentsResearch new technologies as assignedEngineering support to Canadian and Mexican production operationsOther activities related to the jobCore CompetenciesAbility to communicate effectively at all levels of the organizationDemonstrated Product Engineering experience relevant to the positionCapable of successfully interacting with both internal and external customersMinimum technologist diploma from an accredited collegeWilling and capable to travelFluency in Spanish (both verbal and written) preferred.
