 As a Clinical Laboratory Assistant, you are responsible for sample preparation, sample testing, and post analytical tasks such as sample storage and disposal, and maintenance procedures.     Status: Permanent, Full Time
Shift: Day Shift, Monday - Friday, various hours between 6:30 am – 3:00 pm. Guaranteed 37.5 hours per week
Discipline:  Chemistry

    How YOU will make a difference:
  • Ensures that all samples are properly labeled and identified before testing.
  • Follows established protocol for the handling of unsuitable samples.
  • Operates complex instruments following department procedures.
  • Performs simple non-interpretive testing procedures under the supervision of a qualified technologist.
  • Ensures all inquiries and problems are handled in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Performs routine equipment maintenance following documented procedures.
  • Documents all maintenance performed, including minor troubleshooting following manufacturer's instructions.
  • Ensures all quality control checks and standards are maintained
  • Other duties as assigned
  What YOU bring to the role:
  • Laboratory Assistant Program or equivalent previous experience
  • Graduate of an approved laboratory assistant course or equivalent
  • Excellent computer skills 
Nice to have:
  • Knowledge of AS400 Data Entry system/LIS an asset
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team centered environment.
