POSITION SUMMARY

The Finance Manager will play a critical role in the Institutes success and in the management of the financial department. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Finance Manager will be responsible for managing, controlling, planning, and organizing the financial policies and systems. In addition to this, the Finance Manager will make timely, data-driven decisions about operational plans and growth initiatives while overseeing large projects and budgets. This is a succession planning role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·     Review, monitor and manage budgets for all program/project-based funding agreements

·     Liaise with Directors and assist with the annual budgeting process, quarterly forecasting, and long-range planning

·     Implement control mechanisms such as policies and procedures for processes such as financial codes of Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payables.

·     Under the guidance of the Director of Finance, create financial reports, variance reports, and develop long term budgets

·     Collect and analyze financial information and data

·     Provide input on how the company and future business decisions might be impacted by budget changes and relocation of funds

·     Adhere to the Policies, Procedures, and Code of Ethics as set by the Institute

·     Reconcile bank account(s) to the General Ledger monthly

·     Ensure all financial documents, month-end, and year-end, are completed to assist the auditors in producing financial statements for each fiscal year-end

·     Accurate and timely administration of accounts payable, accounts receivables

·     Prepare financial reports for the Stakeholders for each Program before scheduled deadline

·     Provide front line supervision to the Finance staff

Other Duties

·       Take personal responsibility to increase sensitivity, awareness, and implementation of Oshki-Wenjack's cultural teachings and organizational practices in both professional conduct and work-related deliverables.

·       Access and utilize Elders and Knowledge holders for teachings and guidance as it relates to work deliverables.

·       Be prepared to work in conjunction with the philosophy and mandate of the Institute.

·       Adhere to the Policies and Procedures as set by the Institute.

·       Always maintain professionalism.

·       Adhere to the Code of Ethics and positive relationship building.

·       Regular attendance and conduct at work according to the requirements of Oshki-Wenjack's Policies and Procedures.

COMPENTENCIES REQUIRED

Specific Knowledge

·       Knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, and Indigenous communities

·       Experienced in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

·       Skilled in Financial Analysis, Budgeting, and Financial Planning

·       Ellucian/ Colleague Software

Skills and Attributes

·       Mathematical proficiency

·       Efficient and a high level of accuracy in data entry

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Required

·     University Degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance with 3-5 years of progressive experience.

·     Previous experience working in a non-profit sector

·     Registered member of the CPA

·     Skilled in Bookkeeping duties

·     Demonstrated progressive experience in dealing with multiple, large budgets at one time

·     Previous leadership experience considered an asset
