The Opportunity:
The Family Empowerment Worker is responsible for providing supervised visitation for children-in-care with family members. The incumbent will provide transportation to and from visits for children and teach life skills to parents and other family members who access the Family Empowerment Program.

  • Teaches life skills to the parents and other family members who access services from the Family Empowerment program. These include; behavior modification methods, role modeling, open discussions, and role-playing.
  • Provides information on parenting skills, including but not limited to: Behavior management, how to set limits and boundaries, effective ways of disciplining, effective use of time outs, natural and logical consequences
  • Schedule all access visits between children and their families with foster families and biological families as directed by the Family Support Supervisor.
  • Provide services to families referred by the Ministry of Children and Family Development, Carrier Sekani Family Services and any other delegated agency requesting services as detailed on individual contracts and Integrated Case Management (ICM) planning meetings.

What You Will Bring To The Role

  • Social Services Diploma/Certificate preferred; or
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent plus three (3) years' experience in a related area of practice
  • Two years' experience in a related area of practice

Wage Range:
The target hiring range for this position is $ to $ per hour. Candidates will typically be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the wage range. Placement within the wage range is dependent on the applicants' role specific knowledge, skills, abilities, related experience and in consideration of factors such as market conditions and internal equity.
