Grounded in the DIR/Floortime model, we focus on emotional connections, play-based learning, and individualized supports to foster meaningful development. Our interdisciplinary team collaborates closely to support the whole child, integrating speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, music therapy and educational goals into each student's unique journey.

Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and collaborative 
Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)
 who aligns with the principles of the DIR/Floortime model to contract to our school. The ideal candidate is experienced in working with neurodivergent children and values a strengths-based, developmental approach over a behaviorist model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive speech and language evaluations
  • Develop and implement goals to support individualized treatment plans in alignment with DIR/Floortime principles
  • Provide one-on-one therapy sessions integrated into classroom routines and play-based settings
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, support staff and families to support communication development across settings
  • Maintain detailed progress notes and contribute to IEP development
  • Provide parent coaching and consultation in a respectful, family-centered manner

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Current registration with CASLPO
  • Experience with DIR/Floortime or a strong interest in developmental, relationship-based approaches
  • Passion for working with neurodivergent children and commitment to honoring their individuality and autonomy
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • DIR/Floortime certification or training through ICDL is ideal, but training is available
  • Experience in school or pediatric settings
  • AAC experience is an asset
