Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
,
Registered Nurse (RN)
, or
Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN)
who is passionate about education and eager to help train the next generation of Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) in Kelowna, BC.

This is a
30-hour per week, on-site instructor position
that combines classroom teaching, lab instruction, and supervision of students during clinical placements at local care facilities.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Teach approximately 30 hours per week in our Healthcare Assistant (HCA) program
  • Deliver theory, lab, and practical skills training using established curriculum and lesson plans
  • Support students through clear explanations and demonstrations, regular feedback, encouragement, and guidance to build confidence and competence
  • Supervise students during clinical/practicum placements at partner sites in the Kelowna area
  • Communicate with placement supervisors and mentors to monitor student performance and address any issues
  • Participate in program and faculty meetings and contribute to ongoing quality improvement
  • Assist with program organization and administration

Required Qualifications

(Set by the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry and not negotiable)

  • Current unrestricted full registration as an LPN, RN, or RPN with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-time Canadian nursing experience (at least 2800 hours), with strong knowledge of Canadian healthcare and a genuine passion for working with older adults and in community care settings.
  • Proven ability to teach adult learners (Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent experience is an asset).

Preferred Assets

These are considered strong advantages but are not mandatory:

  • 3+ years of Canadian nursing experience
  • Provincial Instructor Diploma (or in progress)
  • Familiarity with the BC Healthcare Assistant provincial curriculum and standards
  • Familiarity with l
    ong-term care and community support settings in BC
  • Well-developed Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organization and time management
  • Proven leadership, coaching, and mentorship abilities
