Aluminum Estimator

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Aluminum Drafter & Estimator to join our growing team. This hybrid role combines estimating, take-offs, and bid preparation with technical drafting and shop drawing production for aluminum window, door, and façade systems. The successful candidate will work closely with sales, project management, suppliers, and consultants to support projects from tender stage through fabrication and installation.

Estimating & Pre-Construction

• Review RFQs, RFIs, drawings, and specifications to prepare accurate aluminum window, door, and façade estimates
• Perform detailed quantity take-offs and pricing for materials, fabrication, glazing, and installation
• Conduct project risk assessments prior to quoting
• Prepare and submit bids in accordance with tender requirements and deadlines
• Coordinate estimating handover meetings with the project team after award
• Assist sales with technical clarifications, pricing strategies, and value-engineering options
• Maintain estimating logs, track bid outcomes, and support KPI targets

Drafting & Technical Drawings

• Prepare detailed shop drawings for aluminum windows, doors, curtain wall, storefront, and railing systems
• Develop layouts, sections, elevations, and details using AutoCAD
• Modify and revise drawings to address consultant comments, site conditions, or fabrication constraints
• Coordinate with internal teams, suppliers, and external consultants to resolve technical issues
• Ensure drawings comply with applicable codes, CSA standards, and project specifications
• Attend job sites as required to verify conditions, perform measurements, or assist with laser scanning

Qualifications & Requirements

• Post-secondary diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field
• 3–5 years of experience in aluminum windows, doors, façade systems, or the construction industry
• Strong understanding of building envelope systems and general construction methods
• Proficient in AutoCAD (Model Space / Paper Space workflow)
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
• High attention to detail, especially in measurements, calculations, and documentation
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently or in a team environment
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Familiarity with CSA standards and Ontario construction practices is an asset

Pay: $45,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
