Reporting to the Controller, the
Assistant Controller
will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting functions, financial reporting, internal controls, and supporting audits. This position will work closely with the Controller/CFO and collaborate across departments to maintain the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.
Job Duties
- Lead and develop an effective and efficient period end financial reporting process.
- Responsible for Bank accounts, cash management and cash forecasting.
- Review and maintain General Ledger accounts/sub ledgers, investigate unusual transactions or unexpected account balances.
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements on a consolidated and unconsolidated basis, including working papers.
- Coordinate year-end audit process and finalization of audited financial statements.
- Respond to questions from external auditors, and inquiries and requests for information from regulators.
- Ensure accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory and company policies and procedures.
- Identify opportunities and implement improved internal controls to increase efficiency and strengthen financial governance and internal controls.
- Review all inter-company reconciliations, and accounting schedules on a monthly basis.
- Liaise with IT for system and process improvement opportunities.
- Work closely with Manager Taxation, Manager FP&A and Manager of New Business Analysis to identify profit and cost reduction opportunities, as well as support the budgeting and forecasting process and new business development activities.
- Be involved with other ad-hoc finance related projects and/or other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- CPA designation.
- University degree in Accounting/Finance.
- 5+ years of related experience working with public or private businesses.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong Excel skills and data analysis capabilities
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional technical skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Strong team player with exceptional collaboration skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgement and prioritize among a multitude of tasks.
- Positive attitude and self-motivated, with a willingness to perform outside of their job description.
