The Role

 Primary duties include: 

Assist other aquaculture technicians in the operation of fish hatcheries.Brood stock production and handling spawning, egg and fry production.Attention to detailsAbility to lift and carry brood fishComputer literateAbility to answer alarmsWilling to work varied or irregular shift including weekends.Feed aquaculture stocks, vaccinate stocks, and perform culling. Operate, maintain, and clean pumps, filters, tanks and other aquaculture equipment. Keep daily records of water chemistry and oxygen.Grade and weigh aquaculture stocks.Handles chemicals with necessary PPE. Includes mandatory FIT testing (respirators). 

The ideal candidate will have completed aquaculture training from a recognized educational institute. This requirement may be substituted with sufficient hands-on experience in spawning, egg incubation and early rearing of salmon fry.  

Previous experience with water quality testing would be considered an asset. 

Salary commensurate with experience which includes a competitive health and dental benefits package.
