The Role
Engages with community groups and individuals to promote Waste Management initiatives and programs and provide information. Shares feedback and insights with program areas/staff to support program development and delivery to defined community populations and groups.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Acts as a linkage between communities and regional staff to support the development and delivery of programs and services in meeting community needs.
- Engages with community members and groups to promote waste programs/initiatives as part of outreach campaigns to reach specific populations (e.g., door knocking, attending/participating at events, phone calls).
- Facilitates individual and group conversations to obtain feedback, including questions, concerns, and considerations regarding current and prospective programs and services.
- Attends community meetings and events put on/in support of waste programs to support community members' access and understanding of services and programs. Responds to general questions and redirects specific or complex questions to regional staff.
- Shares/explains community feedback, concerns, and questions with staff.
- Shares insights and provides input into program development and delivery activities to rectify barriers to community participation and fit community needs.
- Assists in the review and development of educational/informational resources and materials.
- Participates in project team meetings.
- Attends advisory or other committee meetings to share insights and information upon request.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge and skill in customer service and program promotion acquired through a Grade 12 education plus 1 year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of waste programs and services.
- Ability to understand community members' concerns, feedback, and issues and communicate these clearly to regional staff.
- Ability to promote waste programs and services and respond to questions/concerns, including liaising with regional staff.
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures, and related legislation.

- Must have a valid Class G driver's license (or G2 with 3 years of driving experience) and acceptable driving record to drive corporate vehicles.
