The Opportunity
The Application Engineer is responsible for configuring material handling equipment and creating approval and fabrication drawings by collaborating with Sales, Customers, and Designers. The role focuses on developing project-specific equipment designs that meet customer requirements, ensuring accuracy and integrity throughout the design and approval process.

Responsibilities

• Work independently within established design procedures, equipment portfolios and templates to develop project specific equipment designs or configurations meeting customer requirements
• Read customer specifications, including identification of inconsistencies therein, or opportunity for improvements, maintains a customer focus, and verify integrity of what was quoted, entered on the order, and client expectations
• Create and update engineering calculation tools
• Review and validate 3D models and drawings, ensuring they meet design standards and client expectations
• Responsible for updating and confirming accuracy of ERP information
• Track changes in equipment designs throughout the approval process and assists with cost impact to support the change order process
• Responsible for application related document control, i.e., material handling spreadsheet updates, approval drawing revisions, etc.
• Resolve any questions that arise with the client, sales or shop
• Keep all pertinent parties advised of work status, workload, problems, and progress as related to work assignments
• Provides warranty support related to application issues to Service Manager
• Assist engineering leadership in development and implementation of department processes and procedures
• Provide training to fellow engineering staff
• Develop application related documents and tools
• Travel to jobsites or AGI manufacturing centers when necessary (5% of time)

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from accredited University
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible for registration as P.Eng. in any Canadian province other than Quebec.
• 5+ years of experience in the bulk material handling industry, specifically in equipment design for conveying systems (elevators, screws, chains).
• Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and strong skills in numerical tools such as Excel and Mathcad or similar
