Job Summary

We're looking for an experienced Mill Shift Supervisor to lead our production crews and ensure safe, efficient, high-quality mill operations. In this key leadership role, you will coordinate daily production activities, uphold quality standards, and foster a safe and productive work environment. If you're a hands-on, and solution-oriented team lead or supervisor, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

As Mill Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible to:

  • Lead, motivate, and support production crews to maintain smooth, efficient production.
  • Oversee production processes, assign tasks, set priorities, and respond quickly to issues.
  • Assist the Operations Manager with mid- to long-term planning, including workforce needs and cross-training opportunities.
  • Initiate improvement projects to boost efficiency and performance.
  • Manage employee scheduling and time-off approvals through Payworks.
  • Initiate and track attendance and performance management.
  • Complete onboarding and probationary reviews.
  • Assist in managing equipment and PPE inventory, and maintaining housekeeping standards to ensure a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
  • Enforce all Health & Safety rules and ensure proper incident response and reporting.
  • Provide employees with required training and develop new training needs as operations evolve.
  • Ensure all mandatory training documentation is completed and properly tracked.

What You Bring

  • Secondary Education / GED required.
  • Post-secondary education is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years leadership or supervisory experience, preferably in steel or manufacturing.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced mill environment.

Working Conditions

  • Mill environment with exposure to noise, dust, and other disagreeable conditions.
  • Rotational 12-hour shifts (days/nights).
  • Extended periods of standing, walking, or sitting; moderate physical effort required.
  • Supervises hourly production employees.
