Clifton is currently searching for a Senior Survey Technologist to join our Saskatoon office. As a valued member of Clifton's Civil Engineering Practice, you'll lead and deliver field-based construction and civil surveying projects across Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise in geomatics and construction surveying, be confident working independently in the field, and take pride in producing accurate, high-quality data that supports safe, efficient project delivery. This role is well-suited to experienced survey professionals who enjoy hands-on field work, close collaboration with project teams, and contributing technical expertise to construction and civil infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct construction and topographic surveys using RTK and Optical survey instruments to collect accurate and reliable field data.

  • Record, maintain, and organize field measurements, survey notes, records, and related documentation in accordance with project and quality requirements.

  • Process, interpret, and validate survey data using appropriate control files and coordinate systems, while applying strong survey fundamentals to ensure quality control throughout the project life cycle.

  • Perform survey-related calculations and prepare drawings, reports, and other deliverables as required by the project scope.

  • Support project managers by supervising and coordinating field survey activities, determining project requirements, selecting appropriate survey methodologies, and ensuring work is completed in accordance with project specifications and best practices.

  • Maintain, inspect, and calibrate surveying equipment to ensure accuracy, reliability, and readiness for field use.

  • Travel to remote or out-of-town project sites on a project-based basis, which may include rotational work schedules and stays in camp-based accommodations, as required.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior surveying staff and support their development through coaching and knowledge sharing.

  • Adhere to all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while working on construction and active project sites.

  • Adapt Clifton's Quality Management System into project delivery.

  • Operate a Nuclear Densometer for compaction testing on projects requiring a Hybrid Surveyor. Training and certification will be provided, if required.

  • Perform other duties, as assigned, in support of project and operational needs.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics Engineering Technology, Surveying Technology, or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution.

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in construction and/or civil surveying, with demonstrated senior-level field capability. Underground surveying experience is considered an asset.

  • Experience conducting high precision structural surveys, including piling, pile caps, anchor bolts, and similar construction elements.

  • Demonstrated ability to calculate survey lay-out from Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings and apply survey control accurately in the field.

  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is considered an asset.

  • Ability to work independently on active project sites, including outdoor and remote locations, for extended periods, with experience working in variable weather conditions.

  • Willingness to perform field-based work with a flexible schedule to meet project needs. Travel is required for this position and may include remote locations and non-standard work schedules (including overtime, or weekend work) depending on project requirements, with camp-based accommodations provided where applicable.

  • Strong organizational skills and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities while meeting project deadlines.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with project managers, engineers, clients, and field staff.

  • Committed to providing reliable, value-added service to clients and contributing to continuous improvement in project delivery.

  • Ability to contribute to a positive, professional, and ethical work environment.

  • Comfort operating larger field vehicles and ATVs in rough or off-road terrain, where required.

  • Strong workplace safety orientation, with continued attention to safety and safe work practices.

  • Must hold and maintain a valid Class 5 Driver's License and be able to provide a satisfactory Driver's Abstract.
