LOCATION AND ABOUT NHH
Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH delivers a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. Acute services include emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, obstetrical care and palliative care. Post-acute specialty services (PASS) include restorative care and rehabilitation. Mental health care, cancer and supportive care, dialysis and other ambulatory care clinics are offered on an outpatient basis through partnerships with regional centres and nearby specialists. NHH offers a full range of diagnostic services, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) and mammography. The hospital serves the catchment area of west Northumberland County. A mixed urban and rural population of approximately 67,000 residents, west Northumberland comprises the Town of Cobourg, the Municipality of Port Hope, Alderville First Nation and the townships of Hamilton, Cramahe and Alnwick/Haldimand. ROLE OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Nuclear Medicine Charge Technologist and accountable to the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging and to the Nuclear Medicine Director, the full-time Nuclear Medicine Radiation Technologist will be required to perform all Diagnostic Imaging procedures related to the Nuclear Medicine service, including cardiac scanning.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologist of Ontario (CMRITO) as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, MRT (N) and being a member in good standing is required
- Previous Nuclear Medicine experience in a hospital environment a definite asset
- Previous recent related EPIC experience (Radiant Module) a definite asset
- Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Sound critical thinking abilities
- Certified for I.V. placement and the administering of radiopharmaceuticals
- Proven good attendance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- Standing, sitting, walking – possibly for prolonged periods
- Required use of computer systems e.g., Nuclear Medicine control console, Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)
- May be required to view computer monitors for extended periods of time
- The job requires the use of office equipment, computers, telephones, fax machines and other peripheral electronic equipment related to PACS
- Responds professionally and appropriately in high stress and emergency situations
- Required to assist patients during the transfer to and from the Nuclear Medicine table (e.g., to and from wheelchair to Nuclear Medicine table, to and from stretcher/bed to Nuclear Medicine table etc.)
- Required to move and/or transport hospital related equipment
- Responding professionally and appropriately in high stress and emergency situations
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
Successful applicants are required provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.
Additionally, to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.
