Since 1996, HR Associates has been a trusted partner to public and broader public sector organizations across Ontario. We specialize in placing interim professionals and administrative resources within the public, broader public, and not-for-profit sectors. Our consultants bring deep domain experience, a rigorous selection approach, and a strong commitment to client confidentiality.
Labour Relations and Accommodation Specialist
Our client, a large public sector organization, is seeking an experienced professional to support complex accommodation matters, labour relations issues, and return-to-office implementation. This assignment offers an opportunity to work on sensitive, high-impact cases in a unionized environment where medical and mental health considerations often intersect with workplace obligations. The successful candidate will be required to work onsite four days per week.
In this role, you will provide guidance to leaders, HR partners, and employees on accommodation processes, disability management, return-to-work planning, and related labour relations matters. You will assess medical documentation, recommend appropriate next steps, and ensure compliance with the Human Rights Code, collective agreements, and organizational policy. You will also support grievance resolution, policy interpretation, and discussions with union representatives.
This position requires strong judgement, tact, and the ability to navigate complex or overlapping issues where medical accommodations, performance concerns, and workplace expectations intersect.

- Demonstrated experience managing complex medical, mental health, and disability accommodations
- Experience supporting return-to-office or return-to-work programs, including case management

- Solid understanding of Ontario employment legislation, the Human Rights Code, and collective agreement administration
- Strong communication skills with the ability to support difficult conversations and provide clear guidance to managers and employees
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with sensitive, confidential information
- Ability to work onsite four days per week
