PSL350 – Scientific Communication

Course Number and Title:  PSL350H1S Mammalian Molecular Biology

Course Description:  Extend molecular biology concepts to current scientific literature in mammalian physiology. Apply these principles to disease and complex behaviours. Discuss bioethical issues raised by these techniques and their application. Benefit from three weeks in small group seminars lead by research professors focusing on current advances in mammalian molecular biology.

Estimated Course Enrolment:  140

Estimated TA support:  3-5

Class Schedule:  During the scheduled Arts and Science winter term, with classes Tuesdays 10-12 a.m. and Thursdays 3-5 p.m.

Sessional Dates of Appointment:  January to April 2026

Salary:  $883.86 for teaching (inclusive of 4% vacation pay).

Minimum Qualifications:  PhD in physiology or related discipline and prior experience in molecular physiology and pathophysiology research.

Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in molecular physiology and pathophysiology teaching, as well as in facilitating active learning.

Description of Duties: Develop and run two scientific communication practicums on February 5 and March pm). These duties represent 9% of the teaching + practicums for the course.
