For the position of French Literacy and Math Tutor

Reporting to the Owner / Clinic Manager

Start date: March 2026

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing literacy and math tutoring in French to children and adolescents as part of an interprofessional team of service providers. The tutor's students may also be working with speech-language pathology and occupational therapy for support needs related to diverse learning, communication, and/or neurodevelopmental needs and disorders.

This position is permanent part-time.

We offer evening and weekend appointments to reduce the burden on families in which both guardians are in the workforce with limited flexibility to take time off regularly to attend appointments with their child. Also, to reduce the amount of class time that school-age children would miss in order to attend tutoring sessions. This is also appealing to staff who prefer to work evenings and weekends for various personal reasons.

Hours of work and applicant availability will be discussed during the interview stage but would include two clinic shifts in which the tutor would be booked to see clients – either two weekday evenings or one weekday evening and Sundays. Scheduling of associated prep time is flexible and can be completed at the office or at home (with appropriate safeguards).

Requirements:

• appropriate education and experience with tutoring and/or teaching mathematics and literacy skills (e.g., certified teacher)

• genuine interest in the private education and healthcare sector

• a recent criminal record check including vulnerable sector check

• a recent Child Abuse Registry check

• confirmation that they've had their annual flu shot

• evidence that they are or will be fully vaccinated for COVID-19

Assets:

• experience in other jurisdictions (e.g., other Canadian provinces)

• ability to bring a diverse perspective to our team

• experience working with neurodiverse children

Compensation will be based on experience. This information will be discussed at the time of offer. Staff are paid an hourly wage for both direct and indirect billable time with clients and for additional project work. The successful candidate would be an employee of Shoreline (not a contractor). Thus, Shoreline would be responsible for the following: payment of the employer portion for the Canadian Pension Plan and Employment Insurance contributions, provision of equipment required to perform the job (computer, assessments, treatment materials, PPE, etc.).
