The Renfrew Victoria Hospital (RVH) is a 55-bed, fully accredited facility located just 45 minutes west of Ottawa, serving a catchment area of over 60,000. Part of the Renfrew and Area Health Village, RVH provides medical, surgical and complex continuing care as well as extensive ambulatory care with over 30,000 emergency and clinic visits per year.
We also support our communities outside the hospital, throughout Renfrew County, via a number of different programs, including our Renfrew County Youth Wellness Hub of Ontario (RC YWHO) which is a welcoming, safe space offering integrated youth services for young people aged 12 to 25 and their families in Renfrew County. These services are accessible to all youth and are free of charge. In addition to clinical and support services, the hub offers social and fun activities for youth, including cooking classes, video games, karaoke nights and arts and crafts. Come join us As a result of new funding, we are hiring a Part-Time (Contract) Gender-Based Violence Clinician with our Youth Wellness Hub of Ontario (YWHO). We have YWHO sites in Pembroke and Renfrew.
Pay Grid: $43.89 – $53.34 /hour
plus in lieu of vacation and benefits.
The Gender Based violence (GBV) clinician's role is to provide trauma-informed, client-centered support to youth ages 12–25 who are experiencing, or have experienced, gender-based violence. The role focuses on assessment, intervention, advocacy, and ongoing support to empower youth, promote safety, and foster healing. Services are delivered with a strong emphasis on anti-oppressive, culturally responsive, and strength-based practices. This role works alongside the Renfrew County YWHO staff team that is under the lead of the Addictions Treatment Service (ATS) with the Renfrew Victoria Hospital.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
- Provide clinical and supportive counselling to youth impacted by gender-based violence, including sexual assault, dating violence, intimate partner violence, and exploitation.
- Conduct intake, assessment, and safety planning for new clients.
- Develop and implement individualized support and intervention plans.
- Facilitate referrals and connections to community resources such as health care, housing, education, and legal supports.
- Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services in both individual and group settings.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including schools, healthcare providers, child welfare, and justice systems, to ensure wraparound care.
- Deliver prevention and psychoeducational programming for youth related to healthy relationships, consent, and resilience.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case notes and documentation in compliance with agency policies and professional standards.
- Participate in supervision, case consultations, and professional development opportunities to enhance clinical skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) required; MSW or equivalent graduate training in social work, counselling, or related field considered an asset.
- Registered and in good standing within your professional college.
- Minimum 2 years of experience supporting youth and/or survivors of gender-based violence.
- Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and harm-reduction practices.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, Indigenous communities, newcomers, and marginalized groups.
- Strong crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and case management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Knowledge of and relevant experience with computer systems mandatory.
- Ability to work without supervision and with accuracy meeting deadlines.
- Ability to perform duties within the physical demands of the work area.
- Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.
- A Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory for this position
- Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
- Must hold a valid driver's license and/or access to personal transportation for travel around the region
