YOU ARE

**Responsibilities & Duties**
B4H instructors are expected to do the following:
- Arrive on time, 15-20min before class depending on how long it takes you to set up for class;
- Set up circuits(see instructor manual for suggestions), use volunteers if you have any on the given day;
- Check off students on main membership clipboard/whiteboard to help us keep track of attendance;
- Ensure that your circuit of the day includes the VIGOR protocol;
- Demonstrate how to carry out various exercises and routines;
- Watch clients do exercises and show or tell them correct techniques to minimize injury and improve fitness;
- Give alternative exercises during workouts or classes for different levels of fitness and skill. Most stations should have modifications from easy to hard to target all levels in the class;
- Monitor clients’ progress and adapt programs as needed;
- Explain and enforce safety rules, the importance of proper technique, and the use of exercise equipment;
- Oversee completion of exercise routines;
- Identify the client’s fitness and health levels prior to class if there are any new clients.
Classes are 1 hr in length
- 7-10min warm up, 30-35min high intensity(functional exercises & boxing), cool down 10-15 min (stretches, fascial release).
**Fighter classes**(higher intensity)
- Classes are set up as exercise stations (physical &
Cognitive exercises)
**Champion classes**(lower intensity)
- Classes are done in a group format
**Personal Training**:
- one on one sessions with clients
*Initial Training is required and provided by B4H
**_SAFETY/INJURY Guidelines_**
- Safety Guidelines: Keeping up to date on the latest safety guidelines: o Give emergency first aid or CPR if needed (Defibrillator located on Blue gym wall at front of the building) o IF an accident or FALL occurs please fill out an Incident Report to be filled out by the instructor. FORMS are in the Communication Book and at HQ they are on the office door. Please advise Christine ASAP when an incident occurs o From time to time we may need to adjust how we are doing the classes due to COVID and guidelines from Public Health. o Cleaning
- to be delegated among all instructors. Please see the equipment cleaning list in the gym (ie. Bags to be wiped down on a weekly basis, gloves sanitized, washrooms tidied and floors vacuumed.)

B4H instructors often plan or choreograph their own classes. They choose music that is appropriate for their exercise class and create a routine for a class to follow. We use a boxing timer app but if you have another app for timing of circuits feel free to use it as well. Some instructors may teach pre-choreographed routines that were originally created by B4H or ideas from other instructors. If you are ever unsure about adding new exercises please don’t hesitate to ask your Lead instructor to make sure it will work with the class and students attending that class.
