The Training Coordinator is responsible for creating, administering, communicating, promoting, and evaluating on-site training programs and customer initiatives and ensuring the safe, practicable, and efficient delivery of training while administering direction towards rules compliance and monitoring.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor a site training program to support the development of Cando employees
  • Review and ensure job competency profiles for each position are up to date and reflect competency requirements and progression.
  • Maintain training records to ensure they are current, stored and submitted appropriately.
  • Complete an annual evaluation to ensure site training supports a five-year outlook
  • Develop trainees to ensure safety is understood and applied
  • Responsible for working with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents on the workforce planning and hiring strategies
  • Schedule training for all employees to ensure there is no interruption to operations
  • Collaborate with the management team on trainee progression
  • Strategize and amend the training program to ensure optimum progression
  • Responsible for design and development revalidations/refreshers
  • Establish processes to support continuous learning: mentorship, learning from incidents, refresher training, abnormal situation training, etc.
  • Accountable to develop process for learning from near loss and safety incidents
  • Provide leadership coverage for peak vacation season and extenuating circumstances
  • Work with business partners to ensure a high level of functionality of processes and outcomes

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Considerable knowledge of modern principles, practices, and techniques for administering and delivering training programs
  • Demonstrate innovation designing and implementing training activities
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing with people of all background and levels of comprehension
  • Strong coordination and leadership skills
  • Good interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to deliver training and mentor/coach others
  • Experience with oral and written communication for compliance monitoring

Experience

  • Five (5) years' experience working in an Industrial or Construction environment
  • Experience in development and implementation of an Industrial training program would be an asset
