This position is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the Canadian healthcare system.IMAs work under the direct supervision of a physician, functioning as a clinical technician and assistant, and serving as the physician’s “eyes and ears” in the examination room.Compensation & Career Development:Hourly Wage: $18.10 per hour, with additional performance-based bonuses tied to individual services.Training Requirements: Successful completion of all required training milestones, exams, and certifications within the first three (3) weeks of employment.Performance Review: Following a three (3)-month probationary period, IMAs are eligible for a formal performance review.Specialty Training Opportunities: Upon successful completion of the performance review, IMAs may be eligible to train in one or more specialty programs, including but not limited to:Diabetes Program.Travel Medicine.Allergy Testing.Foot Care.Wellbaby Program.Benefits:Comprehensive benefits package including vision, dental, medical, and paramedical services.Benefits eligibility begins after six (6) months of continuous full-time employment.What You'll Do:As an International Medical Assistant (Pap Technician), you will perform routine pap smear exams, including the following:Travel to various clinics within the Toronto GTA area, including Toronto-East, North York, Downtown, Etobicoke, Brampton, and Mississauga, to perform pap tests.Pap and cervical screening.Prepare supplies and explain the procedure to the patient.Perform the pap examination.Notify patients of applicable updates and follow-ups.Perform other duties as required.As an International Medical Assistant (Pap Tech), you will also be fully trained and responsible for:Proper registration of patients administratively (e.g., reception, scheduling, collecting payments, etc.).Proper preparation of patients clinically (e.g., hosting the patient in the exam room and performing triage).Applying scripts, scenarios, and clinical skills appropriately.Utilizing the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system (EMR Advantage) efficiently.Ensuring consistent inventory levels through daily stocking of exam rooms and other clinic areas.Following proper opening and/or closing procedures for the clinic.Managing records and documentation as part of administrative duties.Training in one or more specialty programs (e.g., Travel Medicine, Allergy Testing, Foot Care, and Wellbaby) after successful completion of a three-month probationary review.Maintaining a clean and quiet environment by cleaning and sanitizing exam rooms, foyers, and bathrooms.Performing additional duties as required.What We're Looking For:Medical degree completed.Successful completion of the MCCQE Part I.Previous residency interviews in Canada or the United States considered an asset.Recent clinical medical experience within the past five (5) years considered an asset.Excellent English communication skills (verbal, written, reading, and comprehension) to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals; additional languages are an asset.Permanent eligibility to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident), or possession of a valid work permit extending beyond 12 months (no sponsorship available).Minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute for data entry.Strong understanding of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and patient care protocols.Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and related clinical software.Basic IT skills and familiarity with computer systems.Professional Skills & AttributesExceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.Highly organized with strong attention to detail.Professional, reliable, and committed, with a positive attitude and enthusiasm.Respectful, collaborative, and able to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities, patient needs, and clinic environments.Willingness to work varied shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.Ability to work across multiple clinic or office locations within the city.Passion for continuous learning, training, and professional development.Prior experience in a clinical administrative role is considered an asset.What's Next:Our hiring process is thorough and designed to ensure a strong mutual fit—both for you and for our organization.
