**About this Opportunity**

Exact Detailing Ltd. (Exact) is a provider 3D construction model services. Exact provides drafting, detailing, 3D laser scanning and connection engineering services with its head office located in Victoria, B.C.. Exact also has six supporting offices located in Port Alberni BC, Surrey BC, Burnaby BC, Edmonton AB, Calgary AB and Montreal QC. Exact uses innovative Trimble software, primarily Tekla structures software and continually devotes significant resources to improvements in automation and efficiency.

**Job Summary**:
This is a leadership role in a very progressive environment. The Senior Steel Detailer leads small groups of steel detailers located in-house or through contracted service providers through all aspects of detailing projects. Projects involve from one to five employees and/or contractors, and are often delivered under tight time frames and precise budgets. Promoting and monitoring effectiveness through the project cycle is a key component of this position.

**Duties / Responsibilities**
- Planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating the activities and operations of project teams.
- Organizing, directing, and controlling detailing and drafting activities in commercial. industrial, resource, transportation and recreation and other sectors.
- Consulting with fabricators and liaising with architects engineers when necessary.
- Supporting clients with the preparation of specification and proposals
- Reviewing information models, engineer prepared drawings and data imports.
- Managing the preparation and coordination of assembly drawings and erection plans.
- Reviewing completed drawings for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with clients fabrication and erection needs (as per contract).
- Checking and verifying drawings for conformity and variations from Exact’s specifications and standards.
- Managing the preparation of documentation packages and drawing sets.
- Training and mentoring junior and intermediate detailers in office procedure and Tekla software.
- Promote continuous improvement and contribute to company-wide policies, standards and procedures.

**Qualification**:

- High level of knowledge of industry standard detailing practices.
- Successful completion of steel detailing training from a recognized college or technical school; preferred structural detailing certificate.
- At least 10 years’ experience in a responsible detailing role and progressive responsibility in checking and monitoring of major steel detailing projects.
- Five or more years’ direct experience checking detailing projects.
- Proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM) software such as TEKLA Structures, and Blue Beam software.
- Proficiency with office software (MS Office, time management)
- Knowledge of standard construction practices
