Shop Foreman

Pioneer Construction is looking for hard-working, self-motivated employees with a proven record of safety and reliability to fill the position of Shop Foreman in Thunder Bay. The Shop Foreman will require a high level of motivation, professionalism, and independence. This is a full-time permanent position available with competitive wages and a benefits package.

**JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Responsible for reporting unsafe practices to the supervisor.
- Work along with the area supervisor to prioritize and delegate workload for the mechanics.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment to protect oneself and others in accordance with all department guidelines and applicable company safety rules.
- Operate various vehicles, equipment and tools.
- Perform minor and major repairs on equipment, including but not limited to trailers, power-operated equipment and hand tools.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate computer records of time and parts used on specific work order tasks.
- Assist in developing transportation maintenance and repair procedures.
- Provide supervision/direction for others.
- Direct, instruct and work with department staff and other co-workers on vehicle/equipment repairs and maintenance issues.
- Work with individual vehicle/equipment operators to understand and solve complaints and concerns regarding proper vehicle/equipment maintenance and operation.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures: safety standards operations, maintenance, training, cleanliness standards, etc.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor

**JOB QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education**:

- Minimum 1 year experience working on heavy equipment as a mechanic is required[NP1]
- Valid G Driver’s License
- 310T / 310S Certification or Truck or Coach Technician is an asset
- High school diploma or equivalent is considered an asset
- Experience in the concrete or construction industry is considered an asset

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Ability to use tools and equipment required to perform the work.
- Ability to do physical labour and other strenuous physical tasks.
- Ability to comply with established company safety and operating rules, procedures and guidelines.
- Capable of all physical requirements including lifting (up to 50lb), bending, climbing, etc.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including effectively communicating with internal staff and external customers
- Ability to adapt to last-minute changes as dictated by the needs of the business.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and standard accepted practices.
