**About the job**: You will be required to
- Provide scientific and team leadership on a wide range of water quality and ecosystem health activities in support of regional water programs.
- Plan, carry out and share expertise in the development of impact assessment, surface water investigations, including the provisions of project

management, coordination and surface water quality/quantity expertise to both surface water staff and consultants.
- Act as a Provincial Officer and regional expert on compliance/non-compliance issues related to surface waste protection.
- Review and interpret policies, provide scientific knowledge and leadership as senior regional expert to ministry staff and external contacts.

**What you bring to the team**:
**Mandatory requirements**:

- A degree with specialization in disciplines such as Hydrology, Biology, Chemistry, or Water resources.

**Technical Knowledge and Skills**:

- You have demonstrated knowledge of environmental management theories, practices and techniques in order to provide policy and scientific/technical advice to ministry staff.
- You have demonstrated knowledge of and several years progressive and responsible field investigation experience in surface water resource management and assessment, hydrology, quality and quantity investigations.

**Communication, Interpersonal and Computer Skills**:

- You can lead discussions involving conflicting approaches or scientific opinions to develop consensus.
- You can communicate technical information in a clear manner.
- You know how to draft a variety of written materials such as scientific reports, briefing notes, correspondence, etc.
- You work well with others and are able to persuade and influence diverse interests.
- You can use computers to conduct mathematical modeling of natural systems and use a variety of other software (e.g. word processing, spread sheets, database).

**Leadership Skills**:

- You have demonstrated team leadership skills to plan, set work priorities, assign and review unit work andof staff.
- You possess reasoning and facilitation skills to lead discussions involving conflicting approaches or scientific opinions.

**Analytical and Problem Solving Skills**:

- You have research, investigative, analytical and problem solving skills to determine compliance with ministry legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines and to lead/conduct the collection of surface water data for field investigations.
- You are highly analytical and have the ability to break down, assess, and interpret complex scientific data.
- You know how to identify and evaluate problems to develop effective solutions.
