**Position Title**: Rent Bank Case Manager
**Reports to**: Executive Director
**Wage Grid**: $23.00 - $25.00
**Hours/Week**: 35
**Program Description**:
The Connective Rent Bank offers short term loans to low-income Nanaimo residents at a risk of eviction due to a temporary financial crisis. The Rent Bank is a community project administered by Connective on behalf of Rent Bank BC and the City of Nanaimo aimed to reduce the burden on other social service providers by working with eligible participants to stabilize their housing security.
**Summary of Position**:
**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:
1. Address all inquiries related to the Rent Bank.
3. Engage with Rent Bank committee for final approval of loans.
4. Review assessment forms and contacting applicants for follow-up.
5. Provide appropriate referrals to other Connective programs, or community services.
6. Processing loan disbursement and repayment plans with Connective Finance team and following up with participants as needed.
8. Maintaining program paperwork and statistics related to the Rent Bank
9. Adhere to professional guidelines with respect to client confidentiality.
10. Attending appropriate staff training sessions.
11. Attend Provincial Rent Bank training and forums.
12. Ensure program guidelines are followed.
13. Flexibly in scheduling is required.
**Qualifications**:
**1. post-secondary training**: mental health certificate, degree in human services, criminology, social work, community support worker diploma or a related field and/or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and experience is required.
2. Combined knowledge and experience about community services that support and assist individuals.
**Working Challenges**:
There can be exposure to adverse environmental working conditions. These can include verbal and physical aggression, which require safety precautions and a calm perspective in approaching the situation. This position will also require visits to active job sites where any number of hazards may exist. Safety mindedness and vigilant observation are a necessity.
There are guidelines and policies in place to support the employee in the workplace.
**Budget Responsibility**:
The Rent Bank Case Manager is responsible for any monthly program expenses and shall account for all money spent on client expenses, program resources, travel, and mileage. Must meet administration requirements and timelines for reporting, mileage, time sheets, and other allowable expenses.

The Rent Bank Case Manager models healthy communication skills and conflict resolution to clients, co-workers, and employers. He/she/they has good team skills; has a sense of commitment; the ability to collaborate; is accountable; responsible; and has a flexible approach to working hours and to the range of tasks undertaken.
