Summerhill Market is a boutique grocery store chain in Toronto that specializes in scratch-made prepared foods and on-trend ingredients. Our stores go above and beyond a typical grocery store by offering an extensive rotating selection of ready to eat gourmet meals, freshly baked goodies, and curated hard to find groceries.

Summerhill Market is searching for a **Deli Clerk**, who is a foodie at heart, while working as part of a team in the Deli Department in our Commissary location.

**This role is a full time position**

**Must have open availability**

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Prepare and slice deli meats and other products according to specifications.
- Ensure all products are accurately weighed and measured.
- Package products efficiently and accurately, ensuring proper sealing and labeling to meet quality standards and regulatory requirements
- Maintain proper storage and handling procedures to preserve freshness and prevent contamination.
- Inspect products for quality, freshness, and adherence to standards before distribution.
- Report any discrepancies or defects in products to the supervisor or quality control team.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering and restocking supplies as needed.
- Keep accurate records of inventory and usage to assist with stock management.
- Operate and maintain deli equipment such as slicers, grinders, and scales safely and effectively.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth operation and efficient production.
- Assist in the production process by preparing and assembling products according to commissary specifications.

**Skillset Requirements**:

- Ability to use scales to weigh foods and proper operation of deli equipment, including slicers.
- Expert product knowledge
- Expert knowledge of products, preparation, and safe food handling
- Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures
- Ability to work in a cold environment as required (fridge, freezer, etc.)
- Ability to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Understanding of food and kitchen safety
