**Job Summary**
The Greenhouse and Garden Manager is a key position within Groundswell, responsible for managing the operations of our greenhouse and garden. This role involves planning and implementing planting, amending, biological controls, harvesting, and marketing programs in both the greenhouse and market gardens. The manager also assists in hiring staff and creating a sustainable income through our market garden program, while supporting our educational goals and serving as a liaison between the local community, members, and visitors.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Oversee all greenhouse and garden operations.
- Manage staff, volunteers, and scheduling.
- Plan and execute planting, amendments, weeding schedules, harvesting, and watering.
- Manage all systems, including venting, temperature regulation, and irrigation.
- Maintain and manage the operational manual, volunteer hours, equipment, composting, biological pest control, groundskeeping, and purchases.
- Address bed renter questions.
- Assist with education programs and event support.
- Document operational plans and achievements.
- Review and update the operational manual annually.
- Maintain financial records for sales and purchases.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Exceptional computer and organizational skills.
- Understanding of Living Soil and Permaculture concepts.
- Experience in farming or gardening and excellent people skills.
- Experience managing and mentoring interns.
- Willingness to work in outdoor conditions and perform physical labor.
- Ability to work well with staff, volunteers, the board, and the public.
- Experience in educational settings and working with children.

**Education Requirements**:

- Permaculture certificate or studies in Environmental or Horticultural fields an asset
- Experience in farming or gardening and plant and insect identification.
- A mix of experience and education is preferred.
- Experience in education with children or adults is an asset.

**Supervision**:
A board member oversees the manager position and operations.

**Hours**:
Flexible, summer seasonal (April - October), with possibility of extension

**Job Types**: Full-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $23.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 35 per week

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Weekends as needed

Work Location: In person

Expected start date: 2025-04-01
