Based at the **Nanaimo Visitor Centre**, located in the Vancouver Island Conference Centre, and working at our **summer kiosk** and various community events, this role is all about connecting with visitors in meaningful and memorable ways.

As a frontline ambassador, you'll have the opportunity to share Nanaimo’s unique story, promote regional experiences, and help visitors discover everything our beautiful city and surrounding areas have to offer.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Deliver warm, personalized customer service tailored to visitor needs.
- Promote local attractions, restaurants, scenic spots, and upcoming events.
- Distribute brochures, maps, and promotional materials from tourism partners.
- Provide recommendations for hiking trails, outdoor activities, and cultural sites.
- Assist visitors with booking accommodations and transportation.
- Collect visitor statistics and support monthly reporting.
- Represent Tourism Nanaimo at public events and festivals.
- Assist with volunteer coordination and administrative tasks as needed.

**Qualifications & Requirements**
- Outgoing, friendly, and welcoming personality.
- Exceptional communication and intercultural skills.
- Strong knowledge of Nanaimo and surrounding region, or eagerness to learn.
- Highly organized with strong time management and multitasking abilities.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
- Interest in tourism, hospitality, or customer service industries.
- Must be available to work weekends and statutory holidays.

**Eligibility**

This position is funded through **Canada Summer Jobs**. Applicants must:

- Be between **15 and 30 years of age** at the start of employment.
- Be a Canadian citizen, or a permanent resident,
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada.

**Job Type**: Seasonal
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: $18.85 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
