EHS is a safe haven for thousands of homeless animals each year, providing veterinary treatment, behavioral rehabilitation, care, enrichment and rehoming. **The Role**:
Reporting to the Manager, Volunteer, the Coordinator, Community Engagement is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing the Shelter Takeover Volunteer Program. This initiative engages groups and corporate teams in immersive, hands-on volunteer experiences that directly support the operations of the Edmonton Humane Society (EHS). By managing schedules, logistics, and volunteer activities, the coordinator creates meaningful and impactful opportunities, fostering team-building experiences that contribute to shelter operations while strengthening community engagement and support for EHS initiatives.

**Key Roles & Responsibilities**:
Shelter Takeover Program Coordination
- Work with various departments to identify volunteer needs and design tasks that align with these needs.
- Develop detailed itineraries for each volunteer day, including timelines and task assignments.
- Conduct proactive and reactive outreach to ensure the program is fully booked year-round.
- Coordinate resources, materials, tools, and spaces for scheduled volunteer tasks.
- Ensure safety and welfare standards are followed during animal interactions.
- Manage staff coordination, site setup, and breakdown for each event.
- Provide volunteer amenities (e.g., lunch, t-shirts) and ensure volunteers receive orientations.
- Maintain strong relationships with corporate and group participants through stewardship activities.

Planning, Reporting, and Administration
- Collect feedback from volunteers and staff to assess and improve each event.
- Prepare post-event reports to highlight impact metrics and program success.
- Support budgeting and resource allocation for the Shelter Takeover Program.
- Maintain accurate records, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
- Recommend improvements to streamline operations and enhance volunteer engagement.
- Collaborate with other departments to report program contributions toward EHS objectives.

Customer Service
- Foster strong relationships with corporate sponsors and community groups for repeat participation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for program applicants, ensuring a positive experience.
- Address inquiries, concerns, and feedback promptly and professionally.
- Provide accurate information to staff, volunteers, and the public through clear communication.
- Offer professional and compassionate customer service to all stakeholders.

**Education & Requirements**:

- Post-Secondary Certificate or Degree in a related field (Volunteer or Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Human Resources) and/or equivalent on the job skills and experience
- Minimum of two years of experience working with individuals in a volunteer service orientated environment; direct experience in supervising and/or managing volunteers is an asset.
- Experience in relationship management, corporate partnerships, and/or fund development

Compensation**:EHS offers a competitive not-for-profit compensation package which includes a comprehensive benefits package, and a strong work-life balance.
- ** Hours**: 40 hours a week; however, is expected to work hours as required to fulfill department responsibilities.
