**The opportunity**:
**Your responsibilities**:

- Remove students from situations when appropriate to facilitate de-escalation using crisis intervention techniques.
- Act as the primary resource for emergencies regarding student behavior.
- Plan behavior intervention for students.
- Help students identify their emotions and learn how to manage them.
- Compile and maintain students behavior records and track improvements.
- Promote positive behavior intervention supports and a safe learning environment through the support and supervision of assigned students.
- Provide regular updates regarding behavior progress of assigned students to the Assistant Director of Student Success and Coach Development.
- Coach staff on behavior management strategies as needed.

**Requirements and experience**:

- Diploma of College Studies in Special Care Counselling, Psychology, Psychoeducation or Behavioral science
- **Bilingual - French and English**:

- Trained in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention
- ABA training - an asset
- Knowledge of prevention and intervention behavior plans as well as Individualized Education Program’s (IEP)
- Ability to respond to crisis situations in which there could be physical and verbal violence
- Knowledge of diagnoses and associated behavioral difficulties such as: ODD, OCD, ADHD, Anxiety, Attachment Disorder, Social Maladjustment, Emotional trauma, and communication difficulties
- Experience with students with ASD with behavior difficulties (e.g. meltdowns, aggression) and possess the knowledge of effective strategies to help them calm down, self-regulate, and recover from the emotional distress
- Knowledge of appropriate ways to handle intervention with challenging behavior
