**Reporting to the Supervisor of Survey and Road Rehabilitation, the incumbent will**:

- Assist in preliminary engineering surveys
- Assist in construction layout
- Assist in the operation of computerized instrumentation, download field notes and check calculations
- Maintain the survey equipment and clean and maintain the survey vehicles

**The successful applicant will possess**:

- A two-year Survey Technician or Civil Engineering diploma or a related discpline
- Registration or eligible for registration as a Technician with O.A.C.E.T.T.
- Experience in preliminary engineering survey, construction layout, surveying and all its related instruments
- Knowledge and understanding of Design Specifications for Regional services, MTO Construction Manual, Durham Region Safety Manual, Ontario Traffic Manual (Book 7) and, the Durham Region Traffic Safety Manual
- A good understanding of math, especially co-ordinate geometry, advanced trigonometry and horizontal and vertical curve calculations
- The ability to perform physical tasks such as driving stakes, carrying heavy survey equipment over distances, removing utility covers and working in confined spaces
- A valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence

**CUPE 1764 Salary Grade 3**

This position is with Salary Grade 3 and will be paid at the following hourly rates:

- Start: $32.27 - Six Month: $34.06 - Job: $35.85

**Conditions of Employment**

Proof of education, qualifications and any other job bona fide requirements will be required prior to start date. A current Driver's Abstract will also be required.
