Restaurant Cook
St. Martha’s Brasserie D’Orleans, an award winning 46 seat bistro style restaurant is looking to hire a hard-working and experienced line cook to be part of all food preparation and service activities in an open style kitchen. The cook’s responsibilities include assisting the Chef in preparing menu items, proper plating techniques and product consistency following the restaurant's menus and recipes.
To be successful in this position, you should be knowledgeable of various cooking techniques with a focus on Rational Combi cooking, sous vide, Woodstone Oven baking, roasting, braising etc or have a great desire to learn these advanced cooking techniques. A passion for good food will go a long way. Ultimately, an exceptional cook should be able to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Line Cook Responsibilities:
Assisting in preparing production and preparation of ingredients and menu components, which includes washing, peeling, cutting, and slicing fruits and vegetables as well as preparing meats.
Preparing soups, salads, and sauces as instructed by the Chef.
Plating and garnishing meal items in accordance with the instructions provided by the Chef.
Supervising the work of line cooks to ensure that all given tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Ensuring that all cooking stations are adequately stocked with the necessary ingredients and cooking equipment.
Ensuring that all cooking stations and kitchen surfaces are cleaned and disinfected before and after each shift.
Adhering to standard food rotation practices to reduce food wastage and minimize the risk of contamination.
Assessing the quality of delivered food supplies to ensure that it meets restaurant standards.
Line Cook Requirements:
Proven cooking experience.
Breakfast and Brunch experience would be an asset.
A food handler's certificate.
Experience with Rational and Woodstone Cooking Equipment.
Available to work some nights and weekends.
Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations.
The ability to work as part of a team.
The ability to stand for extended periods.
The ability to work in a progressive and calm environment.
Compensation:
$18 to $20 per hour plus tip sharing of $1.75 to $2.25 per hour.

**Salary**: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
