**Summary**
The CNC Operatoris responsible for creating quality parts and equipment produced on various machines including lathes and milling machines according to company plans, blueprints, and other diagrams. The CNC Machinist is responsible for loading parts, proving tapes, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring, and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements.
**Job Responsibilities & Duties**:
- Operate and maintain a variety of machine devices including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision, non-repetitive machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, planning, drilling, precision grinding, and other operations.
- Study and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to compute dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment. Resolve problems by making decisions to correct constraints.
- Identify root causes and corrective action for quality problems.
- Fabricate new parts to replace defective parts during machine setup, maintenance, or overhaul.
- Use prescribed procedures to inspect the parts and products produced to assure compliance to specifications that will eliminate defects, scrap, rework, etc. Ensure parts meet all RHK Quality requirements.
- Maintain equipment and work area on a daily basis in a clean and orderly condition. Report defective equipment, materials, and/or faulty operations to the supervisor.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Requirements**:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. Post-secondary diploma or certification in a related field is preferred.
- Journeyman/Red Seal CNC Machinist certification preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience operating manual and CNC machines such as lathes and milling machines in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints with great attention to detail.
- Ability to obtain valid forklift certification or other lifting devices as required.
- Highly organized, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and self-motivated to meet deadlines, which supports safety and quality programs
- Have a positive team-oriented attitude, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication skills with the ability to read and write English
- Must be adaptable to changing work environment and competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
**Working Conditions**
- Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, mechanical parts, and vibration.
- May be exposed to noise levels and sounds that might be loud or distracting.
- Able to remain standing for long periods of time.
- This position requires individuals to safely be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- 40-hour work week.
- Manual dexterity required.
