**Indigenous & Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility (EDIA) Specialist**
At CRNA, we are dedicated to advancing regulatory excellence through modern, people-centered solutions. This position will play a critical role in advancing the organization’s commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA), with a particular focus on Indigenous communities and other equity-seeking groups including 2SLGBTQI+ individuals, immigrant and minority populations, victim agencies, and persons with disabilities.
**What You Will Do**
**Provide EDIA Leadership**
- Develop, monitor, and implement EDIA action plans in collaboration with Council, staff, and regulatory committees (committees).
- Provide strategic advice on governance, policy development, and regulatory practices through an EDIA lens.
- Lead research and environmental scanning through an EDIA lens to inform organizational policy and practice.
- Bring forth organizational awareness and education of the Indigenous cultural development and social issues, as well as issues related to other equity-seeking communities.
- Facilitate logistics and implementation of cultural awareness activities and other diversity and inclusion activities
- Represent CRNA on external EDIA-related committees and initiatives.
**Build relationships and community engagement**
- Establish and maintain respectful, ethical relationships with Indigenous communities and other equity-seeking groups.
- Engage Elders and Knowledge Keepers to ensure cultural protocols are upheld.
- Promote initiatives that support truth and reconciliation and cultural awareness.
- Facilitate educational and ceremonial activities as required.
**Support Internal Teams**
- Develop briefing notes and support other department briefings (with an EDIA lens) for Council, senior leadership, Committees and other areas as required.
- Collaborate on the development of publications (internally/externally) to inform audiences of how the CRNA is integrating EDIA to fulfill its regulatory mandate.
- Collaborate across departments to integrate EDIA perspectives into organizational initiatives.
- Develop materials and draft or advise on policies and procedures regarding the Indigenous matters, and matters related to other equity-seeking communities.
- Host lunch and learns and other activities within the organization to increase knowledge, awareness and engagement with the CRNA’s EDIA work.
**What You Possess**
**Education**:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
Additional certifications or training in EDIA-related areas are considered an asset.
**Experience**:
7 - 10 years of experience working with Indigenous communities and other equity-seeking groups.
Demonstrated experience in policy development, stakeholder engagement, and strategic advisory roles
Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of equity, diversity and inclusion principles, Indigenous health perspectives and culturally responsive teaching
- Knowledge of process to ensure safe, inclusive and equitable environments
- Strong leadership, facilitation and collaboration skills to engage staff and other key parties
- Inclusive and collaborative approach to influencing change
- Excellent verbal, written communication and problem-solving and negotiating abilities
- Proven ability to take initiative and navigate ambiguity with a commitment to delivering high-quality results
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
- Experience presenting to Boards of Directors and/or senior leadership and facilitating learning opportunities.
