As an experienced fitness instructor within Recreation and Social Programs or Parks and Open Spaces, you will teach a variety of fitness programs. Fitness instructors are responsible for planning and leading registered and/or drop-in fitness programs. Primary duties include:

- Teach specific skills to participants through progressive physical fitness development and sharing of knowledge.
- Plan and implement quality fitness programs.
- Assess participant needs and provide adaptations as necessary.
- Prepare and maintain equipment, supplies, and program space.
- Ensure safety of participants.
- Maintain program records and assist with program evaluation.
- Maintain high degree of customer service.

**Qualifications**
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- Must have certification and/or training and experience specific to respective specialty (Pre & Post Natal).
- Current Fitness Instructor Certification from Fitness Alberta (or equivalent ¿group exercise¿ certification e.g. YMCA, CanFitPro,etc). Exception: Bassburn, Ballet Barre, and Dance Yourself Fit Instructors require certification/training and experience specific to respective specialty is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability in assessing participant needs and determining adaptations as necessary.
- Strong communication skills along with demonstrated initiative, planning, and organizational skills.
- Sound judgement in safety standards and well-developed customer service skills.

**Pre-employment Requirements**
- Current Intermediate First Aid certification (equivalent to Standard First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) level ¿C¿, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is required.
- CPR must be renewed annually.
- A valid Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Search must be provided. Date of completion must be within the last 12 months.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
- Applicants may be contacted, interviewed, and hired throughout the duration of this competition.

Fitness Instructor 1, $26.00 - $32.00 per hour
Fitness Instructor 2, $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
- Days of Work: This position works various shifts, including daytime, evenings, and weekends.
