Dragonfly Counselling & Support Centre is looking for an Outreach Counsellor to join our dedicated team that is committed to ending the cycle of sexual abuse & assault by providing specialized intervention, counselling and preventative education to individuals, families and communities in North East Region of Alberta.

This is a Full Time permanent position (with option of 0.8 FTE).

The Hub is based in Bonnyville, however the service region is Athabasca, St. Paul, Cold Lake, Lac La Biche, Slave Lake and Wabasca areas. This position can be set up as primarily remote, so applicants are welcomed from Edmonton, central and Northern Alberta, as some travel to the service areas will be required.

Our Outreach Counsellors work directly with our clients to meet these goals:

- Provide individual support for clients including, but not limited to, intake, assessment, case planning and follow-up
- Assist with referrals to and accessing of appropriate community resources
- Support client towards self-efficacy and personal wellness by providing information on the impact of trauma, affirming their resilience and promoting thoughtful informed decision-making
- Participate in providing education sessions, information sessions and display booths to the local communities served
- Establish and maintain effective partnerships with agencies and professionals in both the public and private sectors, in order to supplement and enhance client service provision.

Qualifications:

- Master’s Degree in Human Services or related field with a minimum of two years directly-related counselling experience (equivalencies may be considered)
- Registered or eligible for registration with appropriate professional association
- Knowledge of community resources and familiarity with Indigenous culture and history within Canada
- Comprehensive knowledge of client-centered interventions, practice methods and professional skills
- As we have a large geographical area including Bonnyville, Lac La Biche, Cold Lake, and Athabasca travel is a critical component of this role
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- An understanding of gender issues, social justice advocacy, diversity and anti-oppressive practice are an asset
- Criminal Records check, Child Intervention Record check, valid Alberta Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
