Overall Accountability

The Education Assistant - PUF works in the kindergarten classroom assisting students with diverse learning needs. This includes those who have severe social, emotional and communication needs.

Specific Accountabilities- Assists students individually and in small groups to achieve curriculum programming- Assists with testing and records results- Provides general supervision of students during out of class time- Assists in planning and supervising field trips- Photocopying, typing, computer data entry, phoning, bulletin boards, preparing charts and teaching materials- Contributes to class planning activities, behaviour and progress reviews- Assists with the delivery of Learner Support Plans- Assists students during school celebrations, liturgical events, services and attendance at Mass at local parishes

Qualifications- Category 2 - High School Diploma- Category 3 - High School Diploma and the equivalent of minimum one (1) year post-secondary course study- May require any of the following depending upon assignment:
- Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid Certificates-
- Behaviour management training-
- Lifting techniques-
- Rehabilitation experience-
- Restrictive intervention practices-
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
