Marketing and Communications Coordinator

**Position Description**:
The is a one-year contract position with a 30-hour work week with flexibility required for some weekends and evenings. Salary is $26-$32/hr. based on experience.
**Position Key Duties & Responsibilities**:
Content Creation and Management:
- Develop and manage engaging content for various platforms, including the website, social media channels, newsletters, and print materials
- Coordinate and produce print media advertisements with the CAHS graphic artist
- Video production/editing & photography for CAHS website, social media and marketing needs
- Continually assess the effectiveness of the website, manage and contribute content, manage website sponsorship program, perform updates as appropriate
- Write and design promotional materials, annual reports, monthly reports, press releases, and event-related content
- Ensure consistency and alignment with the CAHS brand voice and values
Media and Public Relations:
- Act as the primary contact for media inquiries and cultivate relationships with media outlets
- Coordinate and execute weekly tv interviews and monthly radio interviews
- Coordinate press coverage, including press releases and feature stories, to increase awareness of CAHS programs and events
- Monitor and report on media coverage and public sentiment
Social Media and Digital Marketing:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy to engage the community and promote CAHS initiatives
- Manage online platforms, monitor and report analytics, and adjust strategies based on performance data
Event and Campaign Support:
- Collaborate with the team to promote fundraising events and campaigns
- Support the creation of marketing materials and strategies to maximize participation and donations
- Coordinate communications and marketing for special projects, including adoption drives and community outreach programs
- Create annual critical path, plan and calendar for marketing and promotions with effective timing and overlap
- Coordinate offsite events and attend if necessary
Internal and External Communications:
- Research, write and produce donor-focused appeals
- Maintain clear and effective communication with CAHS staff, volunteers, and stakeholders
- Provide monthly updates and reports on communications activities and results
- Develop materials to support internal training and development programs as needed
**Qualifications**:
- Genuine concern for the welfare of animals
- Advanced knowledge in all social media platforms
- Experience in marketing, promotions, communications & media relations
- Demonstrated skill on multiple digital media platforms including Webflow, Google, MailChimp, Canva
- Experience in graphic design an asset
- Experience in animal welfare an asset
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and etiquette
- Excellent public relations skills
- Excellent spelling and grammar
- Sound working knowledge of computers, photography, video & video editing
- Outstanding organizational skills/time management
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/demands/issues
- Demonstrates a high degree of discretionary judgment and critical thinking that align with the CAHS
- Work independently and demonstrate initiative
- Professional attitude with clear understanding of confidentiality
- Ability to work in a team environment
**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Pay: $26.00-$32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 per week
